Happy New Year

This is a drawing I did of the kids from the show I work on getting into the New Year spirit.
Or spirits, rather.

Dear Blog, I have... a confession

I love Sailor Moon, I'm a huge fan girl. There you go, I said it. Ridicule if you must, or unite silently! This is ... a very kind self portrait of myself. I love super powers and all, but if I actually ever wore the costume, I'd be pretty... uncomfy. And yes can't go with out converse ;)

Rose Tyler

I doodled this quickly tonight while watching Doctor Who. I was watching The Christmas Invasion, but the shirt she's wearing is from The Empty Child.
I thought I got the face all right, but I didn't spend very much time on it so the body proportions are crap. Enjoy! And happy holidays.

The Ninth Doctor

Here's a little ditty I doodled on the ol' Cintiq of Mr. Christopher Eccleston, a.k.a. the Ninth Doctor from Doctor Who.
I still prefer David Tennant, but I'm enjoying Eccleston's ones too.

The Squirrels are Always Watching

well... the special announcement will have to wait , a bunch of my pet projects have been put on hold this month, why? gigs over lapped each other (unexpectedly) and I've been on a three week stretch(much to the chagrin of my wife and kid) of designing during the day and boarding in the evening, to top it off I was asked by a major feature studio (deliberately cryptic) to do a test for story.... all of that couple with the madness of the holiday season has delayed a bunch of stuff until the new year.
Thanks everyone who drops by this blog your comments and emails are greatly appreciated keep visiting and keep an eye on the "November Need Dinosaurs" post (more of those coming) hopefully in January I'll be back on track....hopefully

Doctor Whoodles

Some doodles of the Tenth Doctor I've scribbled since I very recently discovered that Doctor Who is one of the best shows on television. The quality of the drawings are... varied. But I thought I'd throw 'em up anyway.

Watch Martha Speaks

I realize I've never really mentioned it here, but my day job is doing storyboards on the kids show Martha Speaks on PBS Kids in the US and Knowledge Network, TVO and SCN in Canada. Check your local listings.

So you can watch some of those, I did some revisions on most of the first half of the season, and 4 boards at the end. Currently working on the second season.

*If you're a parent or child who discovered this post via Google or something, be aware there's some mature content on the rest of this blog.

Note to Philip

Taking a cue from my friend Philip Barrett, who sends along original art under the heading of "Note to [insert name]", for a package I'm very late in sending to him I've done the same.
Phil has a new store! You can buy his comics, and they're SUPER awesome. Shop here.

It was based on a doodle, however I JUST now realized that it, combined with a poor tasted gag strip done last month it makes me look like some kinda nazi. I'll just go on the record as saying I hate hate hate nazis and their ideology. But they had some cool lookin' uniforms, which you'll see I changed quite a bit here and didn't put on any kind of swastika.

Another Card Remix

Drew over this card for my Brother-in-Law's engagement party. The inside of the card plays up on Cat beyond which anyone has previously conceived of.
It read:

"We hear you're kitten meow-rried... ConCATulations! You are the Purr-fect couple! Hope you're feline fine!"

"The Circle Must Be Broken!"

Here's a drawin' of an Ood from Doctor Who. The BG is a screen cap from the episode, "Planet of the Ood".
I've recently started watching the show, and am fucking loving it.

Sleazy Slice sample panel

This is a sample panel from a 2-page comic I did for Robin Bougie's Sleazy Slice. If someone flakes out it may be out as early as feb or whatever of next year in #3, but more likely you'll have to wait til 2010 in #4 for it. I'll keep you updated.

Alright. so my blog has been basically fed enough to not to starve- so I"m hoping that my sketch books over the past few months will satisfy for a bit.

#5. Ritual Sacrifice

I'm working on a bunch of stuff for Illyham right now. Too ADD to stick to one thing and just finish it already. But this is one panel from my upcoming "The 10 Most Common Causes of Death in and Around Illyham". Not keen on LiveJournal, but I'll have to bend a little to work on this cool project. Look around, there's already some great comics. (Join if you wanna see the wicked map and stuff)

I'm behind at work, so it'll be a couple weeks most likely before I have something up officially.

Inappropriate Humour

LeeAnn and I were drunk and somehow came up with this joke. Offense isn't intended, but expected.

The Disappearing Head!

I doodled this at work. Not the greatest, but keep in mind the actual size of this drawing is about the width and length of your middle finger.

Happy Halloween!

Here's a Nosferatu I sketched this afternoon while I should have been working, as I'm extremely behind at the moment. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy procrastinating.

A World Without Donuts

This is a pretty stupid comic that barely makes any reasonable sense. But I came up with it while still mostly sleeping, so I did it anyway, as in my sleepy mode I convinced myself it would be hilarious. So here it is. It's not funny...but it's an update at least.

Maidmer

A 9"x9" framed print of this piece is currently on display at the Jem Gallery's "Mermaid Show". 225 East Broadway in Vancouver. It's available for purchase at the reasonably reasonable price of $88.88.

Redecorated Wedding Cards

Lately my wife and I have taken to redecorating cheesy wedding cards before we give them to our newly married friends. This has been enormous fun, and here are the ones we've done thus far.

You'll have to wait for later for more, as we finally finished going to all FIVE of our scheduled weddings this year.

First Nations

I realized yesterday that I can't draw natives very well, so I thought I'd take a quick stab using Google Image Search. Did this on a post-it.

Philip Barrett Comics Care-Package

I'm actually really late in posting this, but I just wanted to show off the kick-ass goody-bag that got sent to me from my friend Phil Barrett over Ireland way. Check out his blog HERE.
Great comics. You should all be reading them!

Space Jet #6

This is the cover for Space Jet #6, which I *really* hope I'll be able to finish this in time for the second Comic Con in 2 weeks. That being THIS Sunday, September 7th.

This is a massive overhaul of the crappy coloured post-it I originally showed here.

"What I Felt Like Doing Today" in one Post-It or less

Bad days at work make me draw things like these:

It's a good form of venting. You should try it.

The Anniversary #3

And here's the final piece of the 3-part Anniversary series.

To quote my friend and wedding MC, Dave about this piece "Right now the guys thinking 'Why'd I bother getting these flowers?'"

The Super Society of Geriatrics

UNFORTUNATELY I will not have Space Jet #6 done for this weekend's comic con at the Vancouver Art Gallery. (Free admission) With work duties, I just do NOT have the time, and it kills me to give up trying to make it, but sadly, I need sleep.

HOWEVER, Gabriel Frizzera and I have finished a short jam comic we'll be releasing this sunday. Here's the cover. (Guest panel by Takeshi "Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane" Miyazawa!)

Hangover

For some STUPID fucking reason Blogger insists on translating the title of this post into this: "हंगोवर" if I hit the space bar. I can't figure out how to stop it.
It says "Hangover". This is another piece from my art show.

Break-Up

This was the very large window piece of my just finished show at the Jem Gallery. It was also the first piece that sold, but there are available two 8.5"x11" prints available. Inquire at the Jem Gallery.
