something useful

Well most of my time on the computer is spent looking at other people's work, so... today's mini adventure brought me to Kazu Kabuishi's step by step guide how to make a comic. I love comics, Adrian Tomine has been a fav artist since grade 11. However I tend to the not soo magical and muscular types. Perhaps... slightly emo?
Either way, I thought this maybe of interest to someone besides me.

Kazu Kabuishi's Comic (must check out for its awesomeness)

Pinky Blues: Early Years part 3

Sorry for the long delay, as evidenced in the previous post I'm working hard on the new issue of Space Jet. Here now is part 3 of the new prequel adventure of Mr. Pinky and Jed.

Space Jet #2

I've been hard at work finishing my new print issue of Space Jet #2. There's new never-before-seen content in there, as well as some comics that have been seen on this blog.
It'll be 3" x 5.5" so it's small. But it also looks like it will be 48 pages, so there's that. Here is a sneak preview of the cover. It may still change, plus I'm having colour problems moving it from Illustrator to InDesign and Photoshop for some reason, despite it remaining in CMYK.
Anyway, gimme some feedback before it's too late.

*EDIT*
Here's a further revised version. Please let me know what you think of the white helmet versus the red helmet.

And thanks to Robin Bougie from Cinema Sewer I will be able to sell this new issue to you at the Vancouver Comic Con on March 19th. I didn't get a spot, but Robin was nice enough to offer some of his space. So thanks again!

my next film is gonna be funny, regardless of the death theme

This is some stuff that I've been working on for my fourth year idea. I took the photo's today in the local cemeteries around oakville. God why does everything have to be 40+ minute walk from the damned school, and why did it have to be the coldest day in oakville's history. That'll teach me for leaving it to the last minute...

more to come... well not life drawing.. anyways... whatever its late...

Valentine's Day 2005: A Look Back

A year ago Tuesday I was in the hospital getting my appendix removed. It seems only fitting then, that I share my morphine-addled pen scrawls from the following day.

A little backstory, I had no glasses or contacts, with me, nothing to read etc, all day. So the following picture drawn on a list of the lunch they were giving me was done in a borrowed ballpoint pen, sans glasses and while on morphine and T3s.

I'd also like to note that the cream soup that's checked off on that menu that they gave me... had all the colour and consistency of a steaming bowl of bukkake. Yuck.

True Tales of Real-Life Morons

This happened tonight at Duffin's Donuts here in Vancouver. People can be completely retarded.

Pinky Blues: Early Years part 2

Here ya go. Part two. Checkin out a Sign-making job today to see if I like it. I had my interview last week.
Seattle was robbed in the Superbowl with the help of some crooked calls by bullshit refs.
And lastly, the Butchershop where I do my life drawing, is closing down because this city is run by ridiculously rule-booky assholes. Fuck you Vancouver property-use inspector Adrian Buchanan! I bet you're the type that wouldn't help a woman being raped if it was happening in a park that had a sign reading "Do Not Walk on the Grass".
Hopefully Pinky Blues will help to brighten your day. Well, your week anyway... later on in the week when something happens...

at life painting...

yeah, this was done at artist 25?? not sure, a friend led me there. Either way, yeah naked lady, in a very, very mucha head wrap! made my day. I think the place was for painting... but I'm a very self concious painter. I a) have to be in the mood b)not a lot of people can be around...
anyways, yeah this scanned a lot darker that it was suppossed to be, so think lighter...
Also, take notice of the weird worm creature at the side, i've been drawing these for a while. icky things with teeth are always a blast.

Pinky Blues: Early Years part 1

Part of my reasoning for this is I enjoyed the characters very much after working on them last year, and a secondary reason is Robin Bougie decided that he felt hobo comics were now cliche. I've barely seen any at all, ever, so I'm obviously not reading as much, but I love the whole "hobo genre". So here we go, the new Pinky Blues story, mined from their own rich past on the back country roads and whatnot.
